We Presented OYAKI FARM at the 9th International Conference on Earth Architecture “LEHM 2024”

LEHM 2024, organized by the German Association for Building with Earth (DVL), is held once every four years. At this 9th edition, I participated alongside Professor Masafumi Tanaka from Tokai University to present our research on rammed earth construction combined with a 5.2-meter timber structure at OYAKI FARM in a poster session.

The conference took place in Weimar, Germany—the birthplace of the Bauhaus—over three days from September 27 to 29, 2024. The first two days featured presentations by speakers from around the world, primarily Germany, while the final day was dedicated to a tour of earth architecture in Germany. The event brought together a diverse group of participants across different ages and professions, creating a space where architects, researchers, craftsmen, and residents could exchange ideas on equal footing.

This kind of platform, provided by DVL, offers a valuable opportunity to think about the role of “earth architecture” in the modern age. It also highlighted the need for similar opportunities in Japan.
